Community Partnerships are how we engage and serve in our local communities. They are how we can be the “hands and feet of Christ”, living out the gospel by serving those around us.

Partnerships are being formed with the following organizations. Watch for specific opportunities to get involved!
• Block Transformation Initiative
The mission of the Block Transformation Initiative is to transform the neighborhood near Barack Obama School physically, economically, and spiritually, one block at a time. The desire is to improve the quality of life on each block by unifying the residents, reducing crime, and building a common connection among those who care about the neighborhood.
• Northcott Neighborhood House
Northcott’s mission is to support family stability, provide educational and recreational programs for youth, lessen neighborhood tensions, combat community deterioration, and provide various social services.
• We Got This
We Got This began with a crew of young boys cleaning up their neighborhood and learning about gardening. The program grew each Saturday as boys came out to assist in duties and were each subsequently paid $20 for their efforts. The program has continued to grow and each week during the summer, more boys help out with cleanup and gardening. The boys meet by positive role models from the community to assist with their efforts. We Got This is recreating neighborhoods – putting the “neighbor” back in the “hood”.
• Next Step Ministries
Next Step’s Community Development Department seeks to facilitate healthy and effective relationships between Next Step and partner communities. Often this looks like supporting and empowering local leaders to change their communities from within — year round. Short-term missions can then play a role in supporting that long-term vision.
• James Place
This is a school resource center located in Barack Obama School. James Place offers classroom assistance, tutoring, mentoring, encouragement, and a ministry of presence for teachers, students and support staff.
