I’m excited to announce that epikos has hired our North Side Campus Pastor! Kurt Owens has been the Lead Pastor of a church on the North Side and will be transitioning to epikos this fall. I first met Kurt early in 2015. It’s been a joy to get to know him more over the past eight months, and really exciting to now have him on the epikos staff team! Kurt has an awesome story of growing up on the North Side of Milwaukee, experiencing all the trappings of dealing drugs and gang life, but coming to faith as a young adult. He ended up getting some providential opportunities in the business world and began to climb the corporate ladder. Even though he had a great job and a great path towards “making it”, he sensed a call to ministry, so he left business management/accounting to pursue vocational ministry. He completed his Master of Arts in Christian Ministry from Liberty University and is currently working on his Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Christian Ministry.
Kurt and Dee-Dee have been married for 16 years and have five children: Dione, Kertis, Deondre, Kenya, and Ker “Deidra.” Dee-Dee is a school nurse for Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin and is also working towards her B.A. in Healthcare Management at Concordia University. She has served in ministry as a teacher, worship team member, service host, and food pantry coordinator. Her greatest passion in ministry has been bringing comfort and encouragement to hurting women.
There is still a long road ahead to launch the North Side campus, so I ask for your continued prayers as we take one step at a time. If you are at all interested in helping with the launch of epikos | North Side, please fill out this interest form.
