When Gospel Transformation Ignites Outreach
So often world mission and community outreach end up being a "tactic" or an "obligation" instead of being an outflow of what Christ has done in our life. At epikos church we desire to foster an environment where we are so transformed by the gospel we can't help but share Christ's love in word and deed. Below are some ways for you to allow the gospel to spill over into other's lives.
Casas por Cristo: Guatemala
Casas por Cristo is a ministry that builds houses for severely impoverished families and connects these families to the local church. This year we will be traveling to Guatemala to build a home for a family in need and to partner with the local church to share Christ's love with this family. No experience in building is necessary! Milwaukee Rescue Mission
Every 4th Saturday of the month meet at epikos at 10:00 am, return by 1:00 pm. Help serve lunch! Each month we need 4-8 volunteers. Or, can't serve lunch? We need people to bring chips, dessert, and drinks each visit as well. (Baking desserts can be a great thing to do with your small group!) Contact: Beth Dabel at bethd@epikos.org.
Burmese Refugee Ministry
Every 3rd Saturday of the Month starting in January help Burmese refuge families. Coffee time with the adults, working on English as a second language, helping with resumes, etc. Playing with the kids upstairs - singing worship songs, playing games, teaching them the Bible. ALSO: Professional Family Photos, and written family narratives. These families have gone through a lot in leaving their home country to find safety in America. We want to help them create a memoir keepsake as a testimony of their experiences. We will need help taking the photos and writing the narratives. Boxes of Love Ministry
Boxes of Love is an inner city outreach through Here’s Life Inner City. This outreach seeks to provide inner city families with a Thanksgiving meal while introducing them to the Gospel. Epikos has been involved in this outreach for the past three years, and continues to expand the different ways we can take part in the outreach. Epikos has opportunities to get involved through gathering food for the boxes, as well as actually connecting with Milwaukee’s inner city families through delivering the boxes and sharing the Gospel. We want to be a church that serves and lives out both our financial responsibilities to others but also our responsibilities to connect and serve God’s people.
